Welcome to On Leading with Greatness
By Jim Salvucci, Ph.D.
When I speak of greatness, I am talking about greatness of spirit, greatness of purpose, greatness of being. All too often we tend to think of greatness as something resembling the Colossus of Rhodes, a massive statue erected to celebrate a glorious military victory. As with all such things, it too long ago crumbled into dust. It’s just fantasy now, ancient and gone. “The lone and level sands stretch far away.”
The greatness I promise is the greatness to live each day well. It’s being a great parent, being a great colleague, or being a great leader, and every leader worth anything must aspire to greatness. Such greatness is everyday greatness, real and practical greatness — not the overstuffed greatness of arrested adolescents with too much money.
