This is so like a nonprofit I worked for. When they had people leave after just 2 years, they changed the pension vesting time from immediately, a great perk, to 3 years. Then they wondered why they still lost people after 2 years. What they needed to do was look at the working conditions and why new employees did not feel supported. Now swift at all.
Great example! Non-profits are notorious for such behavior and often exploit workers’ commitment to the mission. You have to wonder why bosses’ inclination is to try to hold employees hostage rather than looking to their own actions and policies. If people are committed to the mission, reward that!
