Great insights! I have found the culture of the place could also positively/ negatively affect your own perception and reflection. Are people around you supportive, is the company supportive of employee development.
"Intelligence looks in the mirror and sees ignorance. Ignorance looks in the mirror and sees intelligence. The only people who don't suffer from impostor syndrome are actual impostors."
I like that! As Bertrand Russell said, “The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubt.”
Many of us have already created evidence for ourselves that we belong, so I love your tip of reflecting on how we got to where we are today. Reviewing that inventory and seeing the apparent character and competence required to get there reminds us that we are capable. Belief is such a powerful thing.
And for anyone who doesn't yet have the track record, you're in the room. Many are not.
It’s true. Being in the room is itself an achievement. We tend to underestimate ourselves and overestimate others, which is why it is so important to make a realistic self-assessment.

Excellent point! There is a symbiosis between culture and the individual—each feeding and feeding off of the other—that cannot be easily undone.
Great thoughts here. Let me add my own spin:
