I hadn’t really thought of self-marketing in the context of extroversion, but you are right. Those who are naturally gregarious, whether meritorious or not, would have an advantage in the marketplace of social order.
I've seen so many quality people be overlooked because so blowhard is in the face of the administration so they are ones who get the compliments or are promoted. Makes you wonder why try.
It’s tough for some people to toot their own horn, but it is often as necessary to advancement as doing great work. In our non-meritocracy, virtue and value alone will only get you so far in most settings. It’s sad but true and a lesson I am still learning.
