I think this is a great discernment—to evaluate others based on their values, principles, and standards rather than our own. To decide whether we want them in our circle of influence based on the prevalence of guiding their life by high standards, even if those standards don't match ours.

It's a challenging approach and only a starting point, but it can eliminate a lot of nonsense right off the bat and put one's ego in check.
